Academics : Application Guidelines
An important, yet intimidating part of applying for admission to college is the actual application form! As simple as it may seem for some, others are uneasy about filling out their applications – causing these particular students to procrastinate! Take note of the following Do’s and Don’ts:
DO
- Read applications and directions carefully
- Make sure that what is supposed to be included is enclosed (try to send everything together)
- Fill out your own applications (don’t rely on mom and dad)
- If you doubt your neatness – make a copy of the application in order to “practice” – also, proofread your answers
- Be honest! Don’t exaggerate your accomplishments
- Keep a copy of whatever you send
- Be thorough and on time. Keep track of deadlines!
DON’T
- Use white-out or cross out
- Write in cursive
- Leave blank spaces
- Be vague
- Procrastinate!!!
